That's only one of the lines NUS, National University of Singapore, is using in a series of ads that's been running on newsprint lately. They're offering a scholarship.
It's the time of the year here in Singapore when schools of higher learning conduct open houses. The results of the GCE examination are out and students and their parents are into some serious school hunting. Though some already have their eyes on universities abroad (Australia and UK), most will stay to be nurture by local institutions. In the Singapore Education system, at the end of secondary school, students take the GCE 'O' levels examination to determine whether they're are eligible for Junior College (JC), Polytechnics or ITEs. Girls get to continue studying because the guys will have to spent the next 2 years in National Service, NS). Those who need to go to JC will have to take the 'A' level exam to enable them to move to poly or uni.
There are Filipinos studying in Singapore. Wayne Manuel of NUS is one of them. NUS is one of the top 20 universities in the world and is top 3 in Asia (Wonder where our UP, DLSU, ADMU are?). Other schools in Singapore are Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore Management University (SMU), Institute of Technological Education (ITE), Singapore Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP did I hear someone whisper Tammy NYP?) Singapore Institute of Management (SIM University) and National Institute of Education (NIE).Would you like to study in Singapore?

gusto ko sana. pero di ako nakahabol dun sa singapore scholarship test. ang up po top 299, ateneo top 484, la salle top 376?, ang ust po top 500. as of now, dun po ako sa up mag-aarala. peo kung magkaroon po ng chance na makapag-aral dyan sa singapore. ok na po sa akin.

yes, i would like to try to study at Singapore. i've heard from others that they really offer vigorous training in their schools that's why they always hit the top ratings and some schools from US try to copy Singapore's teaching styles and techniques. however, for me, it's pretty hard to get the scholarship for NUS. i looked at a sample questionaire for their test and it was really difficult to answer especially the math part. ahehe... no luck for me.
Is it really hard to get a scholarship in NUS? Is it true that the government may pay for your tuition fees and in return, you can work in s'pore for 1-3 years?
