The Singapore Botanic Gardens is located close to the Orchard Road shopping area. It showcases many outstanding plant collections. Some highlights include the National Orchid Garden, the Ginger Garden, and the Evolution Garden. The numerous plant species there, including many rare specimens, reflect the Singapore Botanic Gardens' richness and diversity of plant life. There are no trains nor trams that goes around th park, unlike in Sentosa, the Bird Park and the Zoo. My mom and I had to walk our way around the park. It was a very hot day when we went there. The only consolation you'll get is the great scenery. It's not worth the visit if your not a plant enthusiast, luckily I am (kinda...).
Other than the ginger that we use for Asian cooking, did you know that there are other varieties? You'll be able to see most of them (with attractive flowers too!) when you visit the Ginger Garden. You'll be able to see the camia (Hedychium coronarium) in full bloom and you'll get reminded of the sampaguita (Jasminum sambac) leis in the Philippines.

If you love orchids, then you better not miss seeing Singapore's national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim 'Agnes'. Also, the park's current orchid enclosure has 20,000 orchid plants on display. The National Orchid Garden promises sprawling orchid displays, water features, and an exotic bromeliad collection from Central and South America. There are also bonsai and succulent plants attractions. So if you get tired of shopping (I don't think you will), do drop by the Botanic Gardens and enjoy the sweet fragrance of the flowers and the cool breeze of the wind. and you might end up asking yourself... Am I still in Singapore?
