The Singapore Penal Code was recently amended after a review process that said to have stretched three years. It was the first major penal code amendment in more than 20 years. One of the more contentious part of the penal code, Section 377A, which makes sex between men a criminal offense, was petitioned to be repealed.
Section 377A ("Outrages on decency") states that:
The Singapore Parliament did not repeal Section 377A, rejecting a petition by gay rights activists and their non-homosexual supporters to abolish the law. However, oral and anal sex between heterosexual couples were legalized.
Section 377A ("Outrages on decency") states that:
Gay rights activists say the law against homosexual sex affects about 200,000 people in the wealthy island-republic of more than four million.Any male person who, in public or private, commits, or abets the commission of, or procures or attempts to procure the commission by any male person of, any act of gross indecency with another male person, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 2 years.

this is very alarming. i would dare not go to singapore for the heck of chellenging this law or i will end up being the next flor c (with no offense meant to flor c).

I can't believe that Singapore being so modern and advanced in their economy, technology and such would still be wallowing in the dark ages in their treatment towards the gay community.
I have a lot of Sing Gay Friends and I think they deserve equal rights and opportunities!
To be honest, I'm not such a huge fan of Singaporeans. In many aspects - like technogology, environnment, economy - they are progressive, but in ways that really matter, I think they're stuck in the Middle Ages!

I am not also a fan of Singaporeans since I met their racist brethren. And being a bitch that I am, i told them you don't have the right to be racists coz you guys look like mongoloids. They were sooo shocked when I said that and kept quiet. Serves them right!
But honestly, with that ruling I am so appalled on what Singapore has become and good thing it is not one of my travel destinations.
